Industry
Landscape

There has been little in the way of technological innovation in the baby and adult diaper markets over the last 40 years. Parenting has changed, with the rise of dual-earner households, the need for real-time information has led to the maturity of the connected wearable market for keeping track of loved ones health and well-being. The ‘Millennial’ generation is ready for a new way of parenting, they want convenience, information at their finger-tips, and want to stay connected. At the other end of the spectrum, the rise in the aging population in the U.S. coupled with a shortage of skilled nursing professionals continues to increase pressure on the timeliness and quality of care. Fall prevention, preventing avoidable infections (i.e., UTIs), preventing bedsores, keeping track of patients with dementia are all key areas of focus for many in the elder care segment. As a smart connected diaper, Smardii is well positioned to disrupt the multi-billion-dollar diaper industry and provide a meaningful solution for the baby care and aging care industries.

The
Problem

There is no practical way to remotely check if a diaper is dirty, or if an elder patient needs to be changed without disturbing their rest and privacy. There is no practical way to know your child's well-being when they are with a nanny, at daycare or with a babysitter. There is no convenient way to receive instantaneous biometrics for detection of possible UTIs and other health conditions.

Solution
